Lower inspection costs and increased safety with ExRobotics new ExR-2 Investigator Robot

Launching ExR-2 Robot Platform

Preventative maintenance is increasingly important to reduce plant downtime and increase profitability. This requires regular and reliable data acquisition, all throughout a facility. After three years of development and extensive testing, the ExR-2 Robot Investigator is ready to launch. It offers a panning inspection module, 3D LiDAR a 5G-ready communication and will be IECEx/ATEX zone 1 certified to operate from -40C to +60C.

The future of robot inspection

This robot is continuously charging its batteries in the IECEx/ATEX zone 1 certified docking station with a high-power induction charger, which it leaves twice or three times every day to inspect equipment. The robot does this according to pre-determined inspection routes without any human intervention. It has been proven that robots can gather this data more reliably and repeatably than human operators. The data will be uploaded to the cloud, where artificial intelligence can identify potential issues and alert the appropriate engineers. They can deploy the robot to gather further data.

Extensive options

The ExR-2 Robot Investigator can be equipped with a large number of options such as an elevating inspection module, 5 different gas detectors, a thermal IR camera, an acoustic analyser, Wi-Fi, and GPS. The robot will be available from Q1 in 2021. Operations, Maintenance or Safety Managers who wish to get first-hand experience can already sign up for a personal demonstration, in which they will be able to operate the robot from their home or office.
